Massage Therapy Frequently Asked Questions
On your first visit you will complete a health history and we will discuss any conditions
in more detail before your treatment begins. Your massage therapist will leave the room and wait outside while you
disrobe to your level of comfort. Some clients prefer to completely
disrobe, while some will remain partially clothed. Once disrobed, you
will lie on the massage table, under the top sheet. Your massage
therapist will give you a few minutes for this process and will knock
on the door to ask if you are ready before entering your room.
You will always be draped with the top sheet during your massage
session and an additional blanket is available at your request. Your
massage therapist will only uncover the part of the body they are
working on, ensuring that your modesty is respected at all times.
We will always work within a client's comfort level so please
communicate any concerns you have before, during or after the massage. Your privacy will always be respected
and your sessions are always completely confidential. Your massage will be tailored to your specific needs
using a combination of techniques to make it just right for you.
After your session it is recommended that the client consume plenty
of water to flush out the acids and toxins that have been released during the massage session.
Occasionally some clients will experience slight discomfort after the session that is similar
to that felt after an intense gym workout. This is a normal result of increased circulation to
the injured muscles and the resulting release of toxins and should disappear in a day or two.
If needed, ice may be applied to the area in 10-15 minute segments.
Each client is unique so speak to your therapist about what schedule is right for you.
Massage is effective for when you are experiencing pain, but your body constantly takes abuse so it is
generally recommended that healthy clients receive bodywork every 3-4 weeks and clients with injuries
should receive bodywork every 1-2 weeks.
